SOUTH BORDER JOINS LINE-UP FOR “GHANA @ 50”

LOS ANGELES, California (July 12, 2007) – Pop and R&B sensation South Border is joining the powerhouse line-up of performers at the landmark celebration of Ghana, Africa’s 50th year of independence on August 25, 2007, which will be held at the historical Independence Square.

Along with blockbuster international artists including Jermaine Jackson, Tido Jackson, Wyclef Jean (The Fugees), Zuri, multi-awarded band South Border will join in the celebration of the said West African country’s role in championing African independence and excellence dubbed “Ghana @ 50.”

Proceeds of the benefit show will go to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to support its various AIDS and health education related advocacies and programs in Africa.

South Border, which recently garnered 4 awards from Musesmuse.com including accolades for Best Band, Best Musicianship and Best Overall Performance On a CD By a Duo, Group or Band, has expressed its gratitude for the invitation.

“We are truly honored to be a part of this momentous occasion which celebrates not only the value of freedom but of artistry and emotion as well,” emphasized Jay Durias, the band’s keyboardist and musical director.

The much-awaited event, which will be shown via live web streaming at www.playastream.com, is a part of the golden jubilee celebrations of Ghana’s emancipation from colonial rule. Ghana at 50 also aims to reflect on the evolution, development, achievements and drawbacks of the country and to look forward to excellence in all fields of endeavor in the next 50 years. Ghana became the first country in Africa south of the Sahara to gain freedom from colonial rule officially on March 6, 1957.
